The .kmz file is a zipped version of the Keyhole Markup Language (.kml) and is typically used in Google Earth. It may also be used in Google Maps and a number of other applications. I recommend downloading the free Google Earth /Google Earth Pro application for PC, Mac or Linux. Once Google Earth is installed, download The Georgia Traverse Tracks and Waypoints .kmz file and open it with Google Earth.
How do I use The Georgia Traverse Section .pdf files for Avenza PDF Maps App for iOS and Android devices?
The Georgia Traverse .pdf files are for use in applications and devices that can display PDF and geospatial PDF files. It is recommended that you use a wifi connection as the downloaded geospatial .pdf files are quite large. To use The Georgia Traverse geospatial .pdf files in Avenza Systems' PDF Maps Mobile App for iOS, follow these steps:

- Download the file or files to a desktop/laptop/device capable of downloading and saving a file locally and email the file or files to an email client accessible on your iPhone/iPad as an attachment.
- Open the email containing the attachement(s) on your iPhone/iPad, tap the file attachment, and select the 'Open in MotionX-GPS' option.
- MotionX-GPS will open, indicating '# Item(s) ready to import.'
- Select the green 'Import' text at the top of the MotionX-GPS import page.
- Importing will begin, followed shortly by 'Import Finished'. Tap 'Done' on the upper right of the screen.
- If you imported the GeorgiaTraverse_Waypoints .gpx file, under Map Options, select Signs>Waypoint Signs>Show Import to display the imported waypoints.
- If you imported the GeorgiaTraverse_Tracks .gpx file, under Map Options, select Recorded Tracks>Show Import to display the imported tracks.
- Requires a free Dropbox app and account.
- On your iPhone/iPad, browse to the Georgia Overland download page and select the .gpx file you wish to use.
- Once you reach the Dropbox Download page for the .gpx file, tap the download icon found in the upper right corner and select the 'Save to my Dropbox' option, sign in to Dropbox and save the file.
- Open the Dropbox app on your iPhone/iPad, tap the .gpx you downloaded to Dropbox. The .gpx file opens in a text format.
- Tap the upload icon in the upper right corner, select 'Open In', and choose 'Open in MotionX-GPS'.
- Follow the Import steps outlined above.

To use The Georgia Traverse geospatial .pdf files in Avenza Systems' PDF Maps Mobile App for iOS, follow these steps:
- Download and install the free Dropbox app on your iPhone/iPad.
- Navigate to http://www.georgiaoverland.com/download.html and click Download The Georgia Traverse Section PDF files (temporarily unavailable).
- The link opens The Georgia Traverse Section PDFs Dropbox page containing 15 section .pdf files.
- Select the Download icon and the Save to my Dropbox dialog opens.
- Select the Sign In option, sign in to your Dropbox account and you should receive the message Successfully saved to your Dropbox.
- Open the Avenza PDF Maps app.
- Tap Maps and tap + to open the Import Map dialog.
- Select the From Dropbox import option, tap OK to Connect to Dropbox and tap Allow when prompted with PDF Maps would like access to the files and folders in your Dropbox.
- Once your Dropbox account opens, tap the GeorgiaTraverse_SectionPDFs folder to view the fifteen available Section geospatial PDF files.
- Tap Select All and after all fifteen files are selected, tap Download (15). The Avenza PDF Maps download process will begin, downloading the fifteen section .pdf files to your device. Be patient, it may take some time depending on your connection. Be sure to leave the app open, as it will pause the download and processing when closed.
- Once the download operation completes, tap the GeorgiaTraverseSection1 file to view the easternmost portion of The Georgia Traverse. As you pan along a map section and reach the map edge, you may access the next adjacent map (where available) by tapping the blue arrow and selecting the next map from the list of nearby maps. When accessing these maps in the field and with the GPS position active, your position will display on the map.
