About Georgia Overland

Georgia Overland began as a platform to document my off-pavement travels with the stated goal "...to create a network of dirt, gravel or unimproved roads and trails across Georgia." In the Fall of 2009, The Cohutta and Big Frog Wilderness Loop, a 95-mile exploration of the dirt and gravel roads in and around the Cohutta Wildlife Management Area in Fannin, Gilmer and Murray Counties, Georgia, and the Big Frog Wilderness in Fannin County, Georgia and Polk County, Tennessee became the first section to be mapped. Over many years, I spent hundreds of hours and countless miles researching, exploring and documenting this off-pavement, legal road route across North Georgia known now as The Georgia Traverse. I hope you find the information useful in your own exploration of Georgia.

Safe travels,
David
